We decided to make several changes in our project last week. The project was renamed to match better its platform independence and got new leader. The project has a new web site at Novell Forge.
WSE 2.0 is not wire-compatible with Indigo. WSE 3.0 is.Furthermore, the WS-* specifications in WSE are implemented by separate teams at Microsoft. What might that mean to Mono? Is there really a need to implement WSE 3.0? I believe the best approach would be to shortcut the path and start implementing an API similar to Indigo. Sooner or later, many enterprise applications will need to be migrated from WSE x to Indigo and that may happen as soon as end next year.
I talked to Miguel de Icaza about the article mentioned in my last blog. And he was not happy about the article... (quoted from Miguel) "Well, I do not like the article, because I *did* talk to the reporter, and he did not portray what I said, and obviously his comment that Novell was not available for comment is a lie. So the article was just written to create fear."
